@velartrill i don’t even know, just saw this line on irc.

i assume stdout is the stdout of a subprocess, and they’re trying some py2/py3 compatibility bullshit by checking to see if it was opened in text mode… instead of checking the file descriptor, or (if newline conversion is desired) setting universal_newlines=True in the Popen call
